Miriam Ayoub

Miriam received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and has practiced in the area of elder law since graduating from Seattle University School of Law in 2011. She joined the firm in 2016 and became a shareholder in 2021.

Miriam’s focus includes probates, guardianships, conservatorships, trust administration, committed intimate relationships, and estate planning. She is also often appointed by the court to serve as a Court Visitor, Probate Guardian ad Litem, and Special Representative. She enjoys all aspects of elder law but especially appreciates being able to support individuals and families through legal issues.

In 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Miriam was selected by peer recognition and professional achievement as a SuperLawyer Rising Star. In addition to practicing law, Miriam also serves as an elder law adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law.

Miriam is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the King County Bar Association. She is a former chair of both the Washington State Bar Association Elder Law Section and the King County Bar Association Guardianship and Elder Law Section, and she continues to serve on both boards. Miriam is also the co-editor-in-chief of the Title 11 Court Visitor Training Committee. Miriam also regularly speaks before local and state-wide audiences on elder law issues.

Outside of work, Miriam enjoys traveling to visit family in Europe and the Middle East, spending time with her family and friends, and keeping up with their energetic Vizsla on long walks and outdoor adventures.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Sage Graves Slugic

Sage joined Graunke Ayoub in 2022, having previously practiced at Hickman Menashe, P.S., since 2016. In 2023, Sage became a shareholder at Graunke Ayoub Law.

Sage focuses primarily on guardianship/conservatorship law, special needs trusts, estate planning and trust administration. She is a member of the the King and Snohomish County Bar Associations and was the 2022-23 Chair of the Elder Law Section to the Washington State Bar Association. She is a Title 11 Court Visitor in Snohomish County and a member of the Title 11 Court Visitor Training Committee.

In 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Sage was named as a SuperLawyers Rising Star in the practice area of elder law. She regularly speaks before local and state-wide audiences on guardianship/conservatorship issues, and she is the author of the guardianship/conservatorship chapter of the King County Bar Association’s Washington Practice Lawyers Manual and co-editor-in-chief of the Title 11 Court Visitor Training Manual.

Sage enjoys spending time outside with her husband, daughter, friends and family. She loves all furry friends and has never met a form of potato she didn’t like.

 

Chad Horner, Attorney

Chad is an attorney with over 25 years of experience helping clients throughout King County. He regularly assists families in navigating the legal and practical complexities that follow the death of a loved one, and is frequently appointed by courts to serve as a professional administrator and probate guardian ad litem.

Chad previously served as a Pro Tem Commissioner in King County Superior Court’s Ex Parte and Probate Department. Chad is also the creator of kingcountyprobates.com, a leading online resource that has become an important tool for lawyers and the public alike, important for its role in improving access to the courts and demystifying probate procedures. He is a frequent speaker on probate and estate administration topics for the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, and other professional organizations.

Chad earned his J.D. from Drake University Law School, where he graduated Order of the Coif and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Drake Law Review. He has been licensed to practice law in Washington since 1997. In addition to his professional work, Chad has volunteered with community legal clinics and nonprofit boards dedicated to expanding access to healthcare and legal services.

 

John Casey, Attorney

Over the past seven years, he has focused on helping individuals navigate the complexities of estate planning and probate, drawing on his own personal experiences to provide empathetic and knowledgeable guidance. Peter's mission is to empower clients by sharing his wealth of knowledge, ensuring their assets are protected and their loved ones are provided for.

 

Matt Fiedler, Associate

Matt’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and trust administration, as well as guardianship and conservatorship matters.

Matt graduated from Seattle University School of Law, where he was a Research & Technical Editor on the Seattle University Law Review. As a student, Matt wrote an article that was published in the Seattle University Law Review titled Post-Pandemic Estate Planning: Analyzing the Recent Changes in Remote Notarization Laws. Matt completed his undergraduate education at the University of Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law, Societies & Justice.

Matt is currently serving as the Vice President of the Snohomish County Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the King County Bar Association and the Snohomish County Bar Association, and he regularly gives presentations to local organizations on topics related to estate planning and elder law.

In his free time, Matt enjoys skiing, soccer, golf, and spending time with his four nephews whenever he gets a chance.

 

Michelle Graunke, of counsel

Michelle represents families and professionals in matters of guardianship, trusts, probate administration, and estate planning. Advising and representing clients as they navigate life’s most difficult challenges brings Michelle great joy and satisfaction.

Michelle has practiced elder law since 1998, representing individuals, family members and professional fiduciaries. She has particular expertise in difficult guardianship and trust matters, including cases involving disability and settlements related to personal injury. Michelle was recently named a Super Lawyer in the area of Estate Planning and Probate.

Michelle is often appointed by the court as a guardian ad litem in probate and trust matters. She is a member and former chair of both the Washington State Bar Association Elder Law Section and the King County Bar Association Guardianship and Elder Law Section.

While not working, Michelle enjoys traveling with her husband, studying and tasting wine, enjoying the outdoors, and most of all, spending time with her family and especially her seven precious grandchildren. She has been voted best lawyer in the Graunke family for 26 straight years.
